The Holy Mount Kailash Trek

Itinerary

Day 1-Chengdu-Lhasa
On arrival at the airport transfer to the hotel full free day for acclimatization or take a walk to the Barkoor old street overnight at hotel (D)

Day 02- Lhasa
Today we will be visiting Potala Palace, and Sera Monastery overnight at hotel (BLD)

Day 03- Lhasa
Visit Deprung monastery and Jokhang temple and old market overnight at hotel (BLD)

Day 04- Lhasa-Yamdrok Tso-Gyantse
Drive to Gyantse. Along the way you cross the Kamba la (4794m) and the Karo la pass (5010m), with a spectacular views. After the Kamba la you come to Yamdrok tso, also known as the Turquoise lake. You'll want to have your camera ready. Overnight in Hotel (BLD)

Day 05- Shigatse
This will be a busy day. In the morning visit Gyantse stupa and monastery followed by a two hour drive to Shigatse. Here see the giant Buddha in the famous Tashilumpo monastery. The seat of the Panchen Lama overnight in Hotel (BLD)

Day 06- Lhatse-Saga
The journey today brings you over two high passes with fine views, we will stop in a small town of Lhatse for lunch later drive to Saga Overnight in hotel (BLD)

Day 07 Paryang
Jeeps and trucks roll on the wide valley following rivers and grazing land of yaks and sheep. Far south you can see snow covered peaks near by you, lots of rocky peaks and sand duns give you an ideal world. Depends on season, nomads and other mobile shopkeepers are attired by beautiful traditional costume, waiting your arrival with hot tea and other supplies along with big smile, overnight in Guest house (BLD)

Day 08- Darchen
Drive to Darchen which is the trekking base for the Holy Mountain where we will arrange Yak’s for the trek next day.
Overnight in Guest house (BLD)

Day 09- KAILASH CIRCUIT TREK - DIRAPHUK
This Kailash circuit covers 53 kms and can be done in 3 days. We head west in clockwise direction and after a few kilometers the trail climbs up to a cairn at 4730 m from where the southern face of Mt. Kailash comes to view. En route visit Tarboche where annual flag pole raising ceremony takes place during Saga Dawa. Overnight in Guest house (BLD)

Day 10 DIRAPHUK - ZUTRULPHUK
Toady we cross Drolma la pass (5630 M) and Gauri Kund Lake (5608 m) where Hindus worship and immerse themselves in the icy waters of the lake.
Overnight at Monastery Guest house (BLD)

Day 11- Darchen – Manasorovar
The final end of the of the trek an easy 2-3 hrs walk down to where the river emerges on to the Barga plain. We complete the 3 day circuit trek of Mt. Kailash and drive 33 KM to Chiu Gompa at Lake Manasorovar. Chiu Gompa is at a fabulous location atop a hill overlooking Lake Manasorovar. (BLD)

Day 12- Paryang
Retrace our journey back Lhasa drive to Paryang overnight in Guest house (BLD)

Day 13 Saga
Drive to Saga overnight in Guest house (BLD)

Day 14 Lhatse
Drive to Lhatse overnight at hotel (BLD)

Day 15 Lhasa
Drive to Lhasa overnight at hotel (BLD)

Day16- Onward flight
Transfer to the Gongar airport for onward flight (B)
